Employee Spotlight-Meet Catherine de Silva

Catherine de Silva is now in her fifteenth year as Service Manager at Atlantic Boats Inc. Describing herself as part of the management TEAM, Catherine oversees the day-to-day operations of the Service Department: some 18 men and women who work on our customer’s treasured boats and their engines.

Managing that department is a big job: there is the day to day scheduling, logistics, and workflow to meet the customer’s needs. Other duties also entails hiring of new personnel, tracking inventory, warranties, training, factory certifications, evaluating internal management reports as well as reports required from vendors and governments alike.

“It wouldn’t be possible to handle this job without the help of my assistant Meghan Westberg and all the members of our team,” Catherine said. “From our yard crew to our technicians, Foreman and hauler, everyone does such a fantastic job.”

Catherine chuckled when asked if she could winterize an outboard or change the manifolds in a inboard engine. “I’m not as hands-on as some of our factory trained crew,” she said, “But I can talk a customer through most steps required to service their boat, and fully understand the services being done.”

Catherine lives with her husband Bill in Dartmouth, Mass., and they have two children: a daughter, Amy, now in graduate school at Syracuse, a son, William, now at Fitchburg State, and a black lab named “Champ”. The de Silva family is a boating and fishing family, too: they have a vacation place on the lake in Ossipee, NH and spends lots of time on the water there.
